Sue Clarke

Professor Sue Clarke has two jobs. She is a Professor at Bournemouth University, where, as Director of the Department of Mental Health, she conducts clinical research into the effectiveness of psychological therapies. Additionally, and for the last 17 years, she has led the Dorset Intensive Psychotherapy Treatment Service (IPTS), recognised as an NHS Beacon Service in 2000. She and her team provide therapy for a range of mood disorders using Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (including the new Radically Open form), Cognitive Analytic Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). As expert practitioner and trainer in each of these approaches, Sue has enormous practical experience of working with troubled and challenging clients. At Bournemouth University, she has taken a lead in promoting recovery-based services, an approach she sees as closely allied with ACT.
